GODZILLA X KONG: THE NEW EMPIRE

GODZILLA X KONG: THE NEW EMPIRE

As Creative Director of Twisted Media, I continued developing the Monarch technology language, expanding it for new environments and story-driven tools in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. I designed and animated graphics for updated Monarch ships, advanced mission-control facilities, and the Hollow Earth Aerial Vehicle (HEAV). The Monarch Mission Control set featured a fully evolved UI system—building on the foundations of previous films while introducing new layers of functionality and visual complexity. These designs not only advanced the tech within the story but also reinforced Monarch’s visual identity across the franchise.

Although I worked remotely for much of the production, all graphics were designed for live, in-camera playback wherever possible. Monarch command centers, ship interiors, and field systems were programmed to run interactively, allowing actors to engage with functional technology in real time. This practical approach minimized the need for post-production replacements and grounded the film’s heightened spectacle in a layer of realism.

Producing from the U.S. while coordinating with international sets required precise communication and delivery. The HEAV was particularly complex: its UI was designed to align perfectly with a custom etched plex overlay. Graphics were laser cut into panels, side-lit, and layered with playback screens behind them, creating an integrated, dimensional effect that synced seamlessly on set. New environments such as Monarch Mission Control also demanded updated UI systems that expanded on the established Monarch design language while adapting to the film’s larger scale.
