FALLOUT: SEASON 1
As Creative Director of Twisted Media, I led the design, animation, playback, and VFX screen graphics for FalloutSeason 1, working from early pre-production through post. Our team collaborated with the show’s producers to bring the franchise’s iconic retro-futuristic technology to life while adapting it for cinematic storytelling. This included reimagining the Pip-Boy for live action, designing functional interfaces for terminals, Vault monitors, and Wasteland tech, and ensuring all graphics felt authentic to the game while serving the demands of television.
All playback was delivered live and in-camera, with systems programmed to respond to physical inputs in real time. This allowed actors to interact naturally with devices like the Pip-Boy and terminals, grounding performances and minimizing the need for post-production screen replacements. We also designed and animated graphics for visual effects, including Pip-Boy sequences, HUD elements, and supplemental screens for compositing.
A central creative challenge was translating Fallout’s beloved in-game visuals into a form that was both faithful to fans and practical for production. Interfaces had to be instantly recognizable, readable on camera, and easy for actors to operate. Vault control rooms, for example, required multiple playback systems running simultaneously with precise timing, ensuring seamless integration into complex sets.
